The Greater Manchester Wellbeing Toolkit for our health and care workforce is an interactive online toolkit to help support you to be your best.
The last twelve months have been really challenging for the people keeping our health and care services running, and it is more important than ever that we all prioritise good wellbeing in everything we do.
This toolkit has been developed by Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, the body overseeing the region’s Covid-19 res
ponse, and brings together all the great wellbeing initiatives and resources that are available in Greater Manchester in one place. It provides advice on keeping well physically, practically and psychologically, as well top tips on how you can support
those around you and seek help for yourself or someone you know when it’s needed.
Whether you work on site or work from home, or a mixture of the two, there are guides on introducing a ‘Buddy Network’ in your team, a debriefing guide to help you make the transition from work to home at the end of the day, as well as tips for improving your sleep and reducing stress.
Who is this Toolkit for?
This toolkit has been developed for the benefit of the health and care workforce, including colleagues in the NHS and social care, as well as those in the voluntary sector, those delivering health and care services in the private sector and our unwaged workforce too. It is designed with this workforce in mind; however, it is hoped that the toolkit can support anyone navigating the challenges of working during the pandemic.
How do I use it?
The toolkit is divided into three sections:
- Looking after yourself – practical tools and tips on how to build our physical and mental resilience.
- Supporting others – guides and tools to help you support others, either as a a manager or on a peer to peer basis.
- Responding to need – information on where to seek help when you need it – both online and more personal depending on what works best for you
You can digest the whole toolkit at once or skip to the sections that are relevant to you. The Toolkit also includes downloadable templates and guides.

REACT Mental Health® conversation training
REACT Mental Health® conversation training empowers you to support the mental health and wellbeing of our health and care workforce. This is supported by the Greater Manchester Wellbeing Toolkit.
People with management, supervisory and supportive roles can have a significantly positive (or negative) impact on the mental wellbeing of the people in their teams and communities. These sessions aims to support colleagues to confidently hold supportive and compassionate mental health and wellbeing conversations, during and beyond COVID-19.
